MycadSPACE is the about AutoCAD’s WORKSPACE, the creation of a preferred work environment and the additional drafting facilities provided by ‘HELPER Here is a list of the main user interface improvements.
A principle feature of MycadHELPER is the management of the AutoCAD WORKSPACE. WORKSPACE is about the drafting environment. MycadHELPER sets up its own custom WorkSPACE This contrasts with AutoCAD’s default WORKSPACE that is dependent on heavy use of graphical menus.
Don’t confuse this with MycadHELPER’s management of WORKZONES; that is about finished production drawings. MycadHELPER describes this facility as MycadZONES
MycadSPACE
MycadSPACE is about the drawing environment and is the result of setting OPTIONS such as UCS, viewpoint, View area, Zoom factor, Screen colour, Cursor type, Number of Status/Command: lines, Menus etc.
MycadHELPER starts up with a default WORKSPACE chosen by the program author based on years of Architectural drafting. This is readily changeable by the drafter.
MycadHELPER default WORKSPACE is black screen, four command-lines, NO graphical menus, Crosshairs 100%, OSNAPS off, ORTHOMODE off i.e. a CLEANSCREEN.
Here are some features of MycadHELPER that conribute to the drawing environment:
- Object Snapping required by most drawing commands is greatly enhanced; providing twenty points about double that of AutoCAD. Only a single character is needed. <enter> is NOT required.
- Single-key responses to MycadKEYS commands; eliminating the need for multi-character responses and the usual obligatory following <enter> key every time a command response is needed.
- Single-key responses to MycadKEYS commands; eliminating the need for multi-character responses and the usual obligatory following <enter> key every time a command response is needed.
- Object Selection required by most editing commands is much faster and provides twenty ways of selecting objects. De-selecting objects is also more fluid since it can be done with the right mouse button rather than pressing the shift key. Only a single character is needed. <enter> is NOT required.
- Data-picks – extraction of data properties such as layer name, color and line-type, text strings, Block names. Polyline widths and more, using a mouse pick rather than Listing an object then typing long keyboard entries.
- Status-line improvements provide current layer name and name length setting, Workzone, Dimscale, linetype-scale and full drawing path.
- Dimension and Text styles to suit chosen professions are created automatically on start-up.
- Auto-save – an optional addition to AutoCAD’s automatic save provides an extra backup facility that creates two alternating permanent back-up files.
- Automatic graphic standards customizable to office preferences.
- Multiple default options and user pre-sets.
- Multiple object editing.
- Enhanced TEXT command
- Enhanced DIM command
- Additional command confirmation options
Sequence of Keyboard activity.
PL<enter> (Place Line) starts the ‘HELPER version of LINE command.
PL then prompts for the first point of the line listing available OSNAPS.
“OSNAPS…Along/Cen/noD/End/From/Gmid/Home/Int/Jmid/Kwik/parL/Mid/Nea/Per
/Qua/inS/Tan/Vert/Xval/Yval/Zval/|ine/NON:“
The drafter may then press one of the OSNAP option letters or pick a point.
e.g. END.
The <enter> key is not required, thus for example, instead of “END<enter>” simply press “E” with NO <enter>.
‘HELPER waits for an object with and END-point to be selected.
The drafter then clicks on an object that has an END-point and the function draws the line to the nearest end-point of the object selected.
‘HELPER then re-prompts:
“OSNAPS…Along/Cen/noD/End/From/Gmid/Home/Int/Jmid/Kwik/parL/Mid/Nea/Per
/Qua/inS/Tan/Vert/Xval/Yval/Zval/|ine/NON:“
The process continues while the operator picks points or pressess OSNAP key letters.
The LINE drawing sequence ends when the drafter presses <enter> or [spacebar].
NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO WASTED <ENTER> KEYS REQUIRED.
SIMILARLY:
C<enter>… Copy prompts for SELECT objects:
=byproperty/*everything/All/Block/Crossing/Dialogue/Entlast/Fen/Grp/Just-bfr/Last/New/Over(WP)/Prev/Under(CP)/Visible/Window/eXcl/ +/–/?/<[done]>/<<add/remove>>
L<enter>…Layer prompts for Layer command OPTIONS:
`laYer/?/Colour/Desc/dEfpts/Frz/Hilite/|inetype/lenGth/Lk/Make/New/Plot/Resolve/Set/stAte/Thw/Unlk/Weight/eXcl/*on&thw*/#on*/0-9/<[dialogue]>/<<Set/-off>>/+on/–off
For many commands the command key-letters may be combined with an option key-letter to issue a secondary command option e.g. LH<enter> is the same effect as L<enter>H = Layer Highlight.
MycadSPACE:
- Replaces Autocad WORKSPACE command. (see WorkZONE vs WorkSPACE).
- Provide extended functionality of commands, keyboard and mouse.
- Eliminates pressing <enter> to confirm input.
- Improves range of OSNAPS
- Improves range of OBJECT selection.
- Improves range of command option confirmation.
- Improves command functionality.s
